Capital Region Jefferson Award finalists to be honored
Gail Wrieden of Watervliet started the Challenger Baseball Program in Colonie in 2006 to provide children with special needs the experience of youth baseball. She also started similar basketball, soccer and bowling programs and was approached by coaches from Brazil to help start a program in their country. She has raised money for the Special Olympics and collected for Toys for Tots.
